The Police Organized Crimes Division has initiated an investigation into former Western Province Governor over a statement he made about judges being affiliated with extremist organizations.

The Police informed Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne today that an investigation into Salley's statement was currently underway.

The investigation will ascertain whether Salley's statement was aimed at inciting religious and communal hatred in the country.

Premnath C. Dolawatte, a lawyer with the Sri Lanka Podujana Party (SLPP), has lodged a complaint against Salley's statement.
