Former Western Province Chief Minister Isura Devapriya has been appointed the new Chairman of the Central Environmental Authority (CEA).

He succeeds A.J.M. Muzammil who was recently appointed the Governor of the Western Province.

Devapriya served as the Chief Minister of the Western Province until the end of official term of the council.

The CEA comes under the direct purview of President Maithripala Sirisena and Depariya is considered a strong ally of the President.
