UNP Chairman Kabir Hashim and Abdul Halim who resigned from their ministerial post last months took oaths before President Maithripala Sirisena as Cabinet ministers this morning.
Hashim and Haleem were among the Muslim MPs who left their positions in the government in the wake of the hunger strike carried out by Parliamentarian Athuraliye Rathana Thera.
Government sources said Hashim and Haleem were reappointed in their previous Cabinet positions.
Haleem said yesterday that the other resigned MPs did not object to the idea of Muslim MPs representing the UNP re-accepting ministerial and deputy ministerial portfolios.
