The Finance Ministry has informed all government ministries and institutions to reduce their expenses at least by 15%.

The instructions have geen has been given while the country grapples with the economic fallout of the Easter Sunday explosions which crippled the tourism sector and the hospitality trade.

Top government sources said all ministry secretaries were summoned for a meeting at the Finance Ministry two weeks ago to discuss ways in which the government could cut down on costs .

The matter was also discussed extensively at the Cabinet meeting last morning, they further added.
