RAVANA1 — Sri Lanka's first ever satellite into space — was launched into orbit today.
The satellite was designed and built at the Kyushu Institute of Technology in Japan by two Sri Lankan institute Tharindu Dayaratne and Dulani Chamika Withanage
The cube satellite is 1,000 cubic cm in size and weighs 1.1 kg.
RAVANA-1 was officially handed over to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency on Feb. 18.
The satellite was launched as part of Cygnus NG-11 by the United States on 17 April 2019
