Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne was booed by a group of people when he attended a public event at the Negombo General Hospital yesterday.
Senaratne came under severe criticism in the recent past over his alleged involvement in the controversy involving Dr. Mohammed Shafi who remains in Police custody over multiple charges. Doctors alleged that Senaratne was attempting to interfere in the investigations into Dr. Shafi's conduct.
The protestors demanded that Senaratne's civic rights should be revoked.
In the face of severe protest by the public, The Health Minister had to leave the premises from the rear entrance of the hospital.
However, speaking to Asian Mirror, a spokesman close to Senaratne said the protestors were ardent supporters of a controversial UPFA Parliamentarian in Negombo.
