Weekly Cabinet meetings will take place as scheduled from next week onwards, informed political sources said.
They added that the President had scheduled a Cabinet meeting on June 18 at 9.30 AM at the Presidential Secretariat.
President Maithripala Sirisena last week said he would not convene the Cabinet again unless the sessions of the Parliamentary Select Committee probing Easter Sunday attacks are suspended.
The Cabinet, however, decided that it was not in a position to fulfill President Maithripala Sirisena's demand as the ministers could not interfere with the work of a Select Committee.
As a result of this impasse, the President refused to convene a Cabinet meeting this week.
