Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said no one could undermine the Cabinet by refrain from convening the Cabinet.
The Prime Minister made this remark while addressing a meeting with civil society representatives and union leaders at Temple Trees today. He was commenting on President Maithripala Sirisena's move to refrain from convening the Cabinet in protest of the Parliamentary Select Committee probing Easter Sunday attacks.
The Prime Minister said the Cabinet was not in a position to influence a Parliamentary Select Committee. "Each institution has its own scope and we must respect that, " the Prime Minister added.
He also maintained that he had a responsibility to run the government as the duly elected Prime Minister of the country.
