In a shocking revelation, IGP Pujith Jayasundara said he was not invited for National Security Council meetings since October last year.
Testifying before the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) probing Easter Sunday explosions, Jayasundara said he was informed by former Defence Ministry Secretary that his presence was not needed at the National Security Council meeting.
Jayasundara said Waiyaratne reluctantly informed him verbally that it was the President who instructed to leave him out of the National Security Council meeting.
"I asked whether I should send a representative on my behalf. But the Defence Ministry Secretary said it was not needed, " Jayasundara added.
It was earlier revealed that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and State Defence Minister Ruwan Wijewardena were also kept out of the National Security Council meeting.
