Former Terrorist Investigations Division (TID) DIG Nalaka Silva is currently giving his testimony before the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) probing into the Easter Sunday explosions.

Silva was handling investigations into Islamist militants before he was arrested last year over the alleged plot on President Maithripala Sirisena's life.

It was reported that at the time Silva was arrested over the assassination plot, he had extensive plans to arrest several extremist militants including Zaharan Hashim.

After his arrest, the investigations into Islamist militants had not been seriously pursued.

Silva was released on bail last month after several months in remand custody.
