Parliamentarian Athuraliye Rathana Thera has ended his fast following the rsignations of Eastern Province Governor M.L.A.M. Hizbullah and Western Province Governor Azath Salley.

Rathana Thera began his fast four days ago demanding the removal of Salley, Hizbullah and Minister Rishad Bathiudeen.

The President's Media Division announced this evening that President Sirisena has accepted the resignations of Salley and Hizbullah.

Central Province Governor Maithri Gunaratne has informed Rathana Thera in writing that the two governors have resigned from their posts. Rathana Thera was taken to hospital shortly after he ended his fast.

Meanwhile, all Muslim ministers are scheduled to hold a special press conference at Temple Trees at 3.30 PM today.
