Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera said rumours regarding compromised safety of schools are false and baseless.

The Police Media Spokesman advised the public to disregard them and continue with day-to-day life without fear.

Gunasekera was responding to rumours that bombs were being placed at government schools targeting children.

The government has already put in place hightened security measures around government schools. Committees comprising teachers and parents have been formed to conduct security checks in schools on a daily basis.
