President Maithripala Sirisena has issued a Gazette notification officially banning the National Thowheed Jamaath organization, the Jama'athe Milla'athe Ibrahim and Willayath As Seylani.
The three organizations have been banned according to the powers vested in the President under the Emergency Regulations.
Making a statement after the Easter Sunday explosions, President Sirisena said steps would be taken to ban the local organizations involved in the suicide attacks on April 21.
However, the Gazette relating to the ban was assumed nearly four weeks after the Easter Sunday explosions.
The Gazette also defines face-cover ban as ‘top of face to bottom of chin and between (but not including) the ears.’
