The Police have recorded a statement from cricketer Dhanushka Gunathailake over allegations of sexual assault on a Norwegian woman. 

Sandeep Selliah, a person known as a friend of Gunathilake, has already been arrested in connection with the incident which took place at a leading hotel in Colombo. 

The Police, however, initially stated that the complaint lodged by the Norwegian girl, had cleared Gunathilake of any wrongdoing. 

It has been established that the cricketer had been at the Colombo hotel when the incident took place.

The cricketer is currently facing an indefinite ban from Sri Lanka Cricket over the incident.
