Former Chairman of Walapane Pradeshiya Sabha and SLFP Organizer for Selacine Jagath Samarahewa has been sentenced to a 12 year imprisonment by the Nuwaraeliya High Court today. 

The SLFP Organizer was convicted for illegal possession of arms and abuse of state vehicles. 

It was proven in court that he had misused a vehicle belonging to the Agriculture and Livestock Development Ministry on April 24, 2004. 

The politician was also fined Rs. 10 million, in addition to the imprisonment.
