Former Bribery Commission Director General Dilrukshi Dias Wickremasinghe had to quit her post when she launched inquiries against four Cabinet ministers, JVP Parliamentarian Vijitha Herath said.
"She came under pressure to step investigations against these ministers. But she continued the inquiries, " Herath said, addressing a press conference in Colombo today.
He said the government had no real intention to eliminate bribery and corruption.
"They only talk about eliminating bribery and corruption. The Commission to Investigate Bribery and Corruption does not even have a proper office," the MP added.
It was revealed that the Bribery Commission Director General quit her post after she came under fire from President Maithripala Sirisena.
She was later assigned to the Attorney General's Department.
