Former Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera, a member of the SLFP 16 group, is likely to go back to the unity government with a Cabinet portfolio, Asian Mirror learns.
Jayasekera joined the opposition along with 15 other MPs having voted against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe during the no-confidence vote in April.
It is learnt that Jayasekera has asked the President if he can re-join the government and the request has elicited a positive response.
However, no final decision has so far been made on the ministerial portfolio that will be given to Jayasekera.
State Minister Sarath Amunugama recently stated that some members of the SLFP 16 group were making overtures to re-join the government.
