The commencement of the special High Court to prosecute corruption will get further delayed due to a number of reasons, Asian Mirror learns.
Although the construction of the new building is completed, it has not been officially handed over to the Chief Justice to commence proceedings of the High Court.
Informed sources also said that the court staff had not been appointed by the Chief Justice so far.
However it is now clear that the first case to be taken up at the new High Court would be Rs. 20 million bribery case involving President Maithripala Sirisena's former Chief of Staff I.K. Mahanama and former Timber Corporation Chairman P. Dissanayake.
