Ranjan Reiterates Need For Stern Action Against Vijayakala: "MPs Living Off Public Money Cannot Behave In This Manner"

Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake said the Speaker should take stern action on Parliamentarian Vijayakala Maheswaaran who recently resigned from her state ministerial position.

The IGP, under instructions from the Attorney General's Department, has already launched an inquiry into the Jaffna district Parliamentarian.

"Vijayakala hasn't stopped making statements supporting the LTTE," Ramanayake said.

"MPs are living off the people's money unlike other professionals. So, they cannot behave in this manner," the Deputy Minister said pushing for stern action against the fellow Parliamentarian.

"Similarly, action should be taken on those who made statements about Hitler and bombing Parliamentarian," he stressed.
