President Maithripala Sirisena said he would sanction death penalty penalty for those running drug networks from prisons. 

"Some of them have been convicted to them over drug related offences. but they are still running drug networks from their prison cells," President Sirisena said today. 

He added that the matter was widely discussed at the Cabinet meeting yesterday. 

The President said he also had a consultation with the Justice Ministry, and added the decision would be implemented soon. 

"I think I will not commit a sin by sanctioning their death sentence. This is done to save our children from the drug menace." the President explained.
