Confusion reigns over the fuel price hike with some sections of online media reporting that President Maithripala Sirisena has ordered the Finance Ministry to reverse the price hike. 

However, speaking to Asian Mirror, a Finance Ministry Spokesman said the Ministry has not received such a directive from the President. 

When contacted, the Presidential Secretariat also said they were not aware of any such development. 

Therefore, the increased fuel prices announced last night by Finance and Media Minister Mangala Samaraweera sill remain.
