Chairman of People's Bank Hemasiri Fernando has been approached for the post of President's Secretary, Asian Mirror reliably learns. 

Sources close to Fernando, however, said Fernando had declined the offer politely. 

Fernando was also the Chairman of the Independent Television Network (ITN).
