Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is likely to make a special statement in Parliament tomorrow on certain of the aspects alleged in the New York Times article of June 25.

The Prime Minister is expected to focus in particular of the charge that China funded some part of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s presidential campaign in 2015.

PM Wickremesinghe said yesterday the CID of the Police would initiate investigations into the allegations made in the NYT article.

The CID will begin its investigation based on a complaint made by Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake, also yesterday.
