Parliamentarians representing both the government and the opposition pointed out that State Minister Vijayakala Maheswaran should resign from her government portfolio.
The State Minister said yesterday that the LTTE should be revived to ensure the well-being of people in the Northern province.
Following heated arguments over her statement, Parliament was suspended briefly, a short while ago.
However, in a telephone conversation with Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake that was played before journalists during a press conference, the State Minister said she made the remark'under tension'.
"The LTTE can't be revived. I want the drug menace to be stopped," she said.
