State Minister Wijayakala Maheswaran has made a controversial remark stating the LTTE should be revived to ensure the well-being of the Tamils in the North.
Addressing a public gathering, Maheswaran, a member of the UNP, said her people lived under better conditions when the LTTE was in operation.
She made this remark referring to the rape and the killing of a 6 year old girl in Jaffna.
She added that the law enforcement mechanism of the state had failed to ensure their safety.
Criticizing President Maithripala Sirisena, Maheswaran said the former had no time to look into the problems in their areas as he was busy with his party.
