Former JVP Leader Rohana Wijeweera's wife Chithranganie Wijeweera filed a petition with the Court of Appeal over her husband's disappearance.
In her petition, the JVP leader's wife sough the Court of Appeal intervention to either produce her husband to the family or to release him.
She said he did not know what happened to her husband after he was taken away by a group of Army officers in November, 1989.
Multiple accounts have revealed that Wijeweera has been murdered at the Borella cemetery upon his arrest.
However, Ranjan Wijeratne, the State Defence Minister at the time, officially stated that Wijeweera died in a crossfire with the Army - a claim that was later challenged by multiple eyewitness accounts.
