Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa said the Sri Lanka Podujana Party could win the next Presidential election even if Ampara district MP Wimalaweera Dissanayake became the candidate.
Rajapaksa made this remark while addressing a Podujana Peramuna meeting in Ampara yesterday.
"Winning the next Presidential election is not a question," he said.
"We have no shortage of candidates. We already have several candidates who can win the election for us," he added.
The former Minister also added that there should be no division within the SLPP as to who the candidate should be.
"We are ready to support anyone nominated by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa," the former Minister explained.
