Bodu Bala Sena General Secretary Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera was granted bail to the Homagama Magistrate a short while ago.
While granting bail to the controversial monk, the Magistrate barred him from travelling overseas.
The hearing of the application was postponed to today as the officials of the Attorney General's Department did not turn up at the previous hearing.
A group of Bodu Bala Sena monks launched a protest near the Magistrate's court premises demanding bail for Gnanasara Thera.
They also threatened to launch a fast unto death campaign if the monk was refused bail.
Gnanasara Thera was given a 06 month imprisonment for threatening Sandhya Eknaligoda, the wife of the missing journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda, within the Magistrate's Court premises.
