Sri Lanka's regular Test skipper Dinesh Chandimal has appealed against the one match ban imposed on him by ICC match referee Javagal Srinath following the ball tampering allegation during the second test against West Indies.
Speaking to Asian Mirror, Sri Lanka Cricket sources said there was a possibility that Chandimal could play the third Test against West Indies, due to the appeal.
At the first inquiry, Chandimal admitted that he put a foreign object in his mouth before applying saliva on the ball, but added he could not remember what it was.
The ICC panel which conducted the inquiry stated Chandimal's statement was 'unconvincing.'
In addition to Chandimal, Head Coach of the Sri Lankan team Chandika Hathurusinghe and team manager Asanka Gurusinghe are also facing inquiries for violating the 'spirit of the game'
