Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said subjects of literature, history and religion would not be removed from the school curriculum.
Speaking to media yesterday, he said there was no truth in reports saying the three subjects would be removed from the school syllabus.
However, the Minister said timely changes would be introduced to the education system of Sri Lanka.
He said the government was considering proposals to reduce the number of subjects in O\Level examination to six.
The Minister added that a national committee comprised of experts would make the final decision on the matter.
