A 33 year old male had died when the Police opened fire on a group who attacked two Policemen at Malakkam junction in Telippai, Jaffna. 

The group had apparently attacked the Policemen with swords. 

Investigations are underway to ascertain whether they were members of a criminal gang in the area.
