The government has received a request to cancel the transfer of Colonel W.W. Rathapriya, who was the head of the Civil Security Department in Mullaitivu. 

The request has been made by National Reconciliation Minister Mano Ganesan at the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday. 

However, no final decision has so far been made on the request.

Rathapriya received an emotional farewell today as he ended  his tenure as the head of the Civil Security Department in Mullaitivu.

Former LTTE combatants who have undergone rehabilitation and villagers were also among those who attended the farewell function.

Some of them were even seen crying when the senior Army officer bade adieu to those who attended the function.

During his five year term in the past, he had worked efficiently and effectively to integrate former LTTE combatants into civilian life.
