Former Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera is currently being questioned by the CID on the money he received from Perpetual Treasuries Owner Arjuna Aloysius.
The Criminal Investigations Department informed the Colombo Chief Magistrate recently that Jayasekera had received Rs. 1 million from a company owned by Arjuna Aloysius.
The CID said Walt and Row company, owned by Perpetual Treasuries owner Aloysius, had paid this money to Jayasekera two years ago.
According to the CID, the former Minister had asked his security officer, Amila Kumara Herath, to encash a cheque (Bearing number 566635) issued by Walt & Row Associates (under the current account number 0073900773)
Speaking in Parliament, Jayasekera admitted that he received money from Aloysius, and said it was used for his election campaign in 2015.
