Youth Affairs and Southern Development Minister Sagala Ratanayaka said the government was able to donate Rs. 70 million as compensation to flood victims in the Pasgoda area, in Deniyaya. 

The money was distributed among flood victims who lost their properties during floods last year, at a brief ceremony held at Pasgoda today. 

Over 550 families suffered substantial damages to their houses due to floods. 

The money was passed by the Cabinet following a special Cabinet paper submitted by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
