The Singapore government has asked the Sri Lanka government to look into and initiate procedure for having former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran extradited.
Arjuna Mahendran has been evading arrest, and was last spotted in Singapore, where he is also a citizen.
While there is an Interpol red notice for the arrest of Mahendran, the Singapore government has notified authorities they are unable to make the arrest.
Instead, they have advised Sri Lanka to look into and initiate a programme of extradition to get Mahendran back to Sri Lanka.
This was revealed by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinge in Parliament today, in response to a question from Chief Opposition Whip Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
