Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is yet to inform the Sri Lanka Freedom Party whether he would accept his position in he party's Advisory Board.
"Although some members of the Joint Opposition have stated that the former President will not accept the position, he has made no such indication to the party," a party spokesman told Asian Mirror.
"He has not officially contacted any official of the party regarding the new appointment," he added.
Rajapaksa has openly pledged support to the Sri Lanka Podujana Party.
The former President was appointed to an Advisory Board of the SLFP alongside his predecessor Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga and former Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne.
