In an interesting turn of events, the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) in Sri Lanka blamed the state tun Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) for running an illegal transmission centre in Balangoda.
Issuing a statement on the controversy surrounding the TNL network, the TRC said many other TV stations too were running similar "illegal" transmission centres in various parts of the country.
It also said they would be dealt with according to the Telecommunications Regulatory Act.
The TRC said it was mandatory for all TV channels to obtain licenses for their transmission centres after paying due charges.
Asian Mirror's attempts to get a comment from a senior official of the SLBC on the matter ended up being futile.
