Chairman of the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd. (ANCL) Kavan Ratnayaka has been appointed the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority.

The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority is the main body entrusted with the tourism industry and Ratnayaka is tasked with implementing a national tourism plan.

Ratnayaka was responsible for turning around the fortunes of the ANCL, ensuring financial stability and market stability. 

An old boy of Royal College, Colombo, Ratnayaka, who holds a Bachelor of Science (Physics) at the University of California, held the posts of country General Manager of IBM and Chief Executive Officer of Dialog Broadband and later Chief Corporate Officer of Dialog Axiata PLC. 

He is expected to begin his role at the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority on Monday (17).
