Point Pedro Magistrate today remanded till July 24 the two policemen interdicted and arrested for a shooting incident that killed 24-year-old Yogaraja Dinesh last afternoon.

A Sub-Inspector and a Police Constable attached to the Point Pedro Police Station were taken into custody after the driver of the truck they opened fire at succumbed to his injuries.

The truck, transporting sand illegally, had failed to heed Police orders to stop at a checkpoint in Manalkadu prompting police to open fire.

A tense situation erupted after the incident with residents pelting stones at the Point Pedro Police Station damaging a Police jeep parked outside.
