Former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa said the only act of corruption he committed was destroying the LTTE. 

Rajapaksa made this remark when he spoke to media after visiting the Chief Prelate of the Malwatte and Asgiriya chapters.

"Minister Mahinda Amaraweera had told  group of SLFP MPs that I would be arrested in a month. How can Amaraweera decide on my arrest? If that is the case, what is the fairness in the judicial process?" the former Defence Secretary asked.

"The Rajapaksas never robbed the country. We were the ones who risked our lives to save the country. What has Mahinda Amaraweera done?" 

He said plans were afoot to arrest him as the government feared that he would enter politics.

"I don't want to enter politics. There are no such plans. But, the government has got scared," he added.  

However, the former Defence Secretary said he was against the proposed new constitution, saying it was "unnecessary."
