President Maithripala Sirisena is currently holding discussions with Chief prelates and other representatives of the Buddhist community.
The discussion is taking place at the President's House in Kandy.
A wide range of issues, including the proposed constitutional amendments, are likely to be discussed at the meeting.
The dicssuions comes two days after the chief prelates issued a statement asking the government not to proceed with the proposed new constitution.
They said a new constitution would create more problems in the country.
However, the Chief Prelates encouraged the government to proceed with electoral reforms through a constitutional amendment.
