President Maithripala Sirisena said education was one of the most important tools for the future of the country.

"It builds a complete man," the President said, addressing a ceremony organized to grant scholarships to children of low-income families, held at the President’s House, yesterday.

The President further said that all investments and contributions to the education of the children, is a great service towards the future of the country.

These scholarships were presented to 500 children under the sponsorship of the Dinesh Weerakkody Foundation.

The President marking the launch of the programme presented scholarships to several students.

The Maha Sangha, Catholic Priests, Minister John Amaratunga and many others participated in the event.
