Controversy has been created on online media platforms about Charlie Austin who is allegedly personal manager to several high profile cricketers in the national team.

Speculation is rife that Charlie Austin manages as many as 7 cricketers in the current national team and his involvement hinders the independence of the of the selection committee.

But who is Charlie Austin?

Charlie moved to Sri Lanka in September 1999 after completing a Masters degree at Sussex University and was appointed the Country Manager of Cricinfo.com

As a cricket manager he co-owns Austin Management Limited (AML) with his Sri Lankan wife Suthami.

He co-owns two other businesses; Red Dot with David Hopps and The Wallawwa, a 14-bedroom boutique hotel near the airport, with Mike Davies, a close school friend.

Red Dot lists Charlie Austin as being 'passionate about his food, cricket and loves escaping to Sri Lanka’s hill-country, especially Victoria golf club or a tea estate bungalow, with Suthami, their daughter Zara and Chillie, their cocker spaniel.'
