Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith has requested the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) to postpone their strike on behalf of those affected by dengue.
The GMOA have announced an indefinite, islandwide strike due to begin tomorrow (5).
They are protesting against the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM), which they allege, is a ‘hora upadee kade’ and must be abolished.
But over 70, 000 people have been affected by the viral fever in the first six months to 2017, with over 200 deaths recorded.
Under the current circumstances the Archbishop of Colombo has requested the GMOA to postpone their strike on behalf of the numbers affected by the viral fever.
