BBS Demands CBK To Tender Public Apology

The President should use his executive powers to take over the Central Cultural Fund and the Archeological Department, the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) said at a press conference held this evening.

BBS CEO Dilantha Witnanage, addressing a press conference in Colombo said, over 600 archeological places that are of value to the Buddhist community have completely been destroyed.

“If people are so interested in the money that comes into the Dambulla temple offering box why are they not interested in the money that comes to the Munneswaram temple and the Madu church,” Sihala Ravaya General Secretary Magalkande Sudantha Thera said, addressing the same press conference organised by the BBS.

He added that the government was creating a fresh problem in the country by allowing the likes of Azath Sally to insult members of the Buddhist clergy and the Justice Minister.

“We’ve Stopped, Now You Stop” he stressed.

The Sihala Ravaya stalwart also added that former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga should tender an apology to the country for not implementing the recommendations of the Buddha Sasana Commission, appointed during her tenure.

“She now talks about Christian churches coming under attack from Buddhists. She apologizes to Christians on behalf of Buddhists. First she should tender an apology over lapses on her part,” he said.
