Sri Lanka-Japan ‘Maritime Security, Safety and Oceanic Issues’ Dialogue Held In Colombo

Sri Lanka and Japan held a joint dialogue on ‘Maritime Security, Safety and Oceanic Issues’ at the Ministry of Defense, yesterday.

Delegations from Japan and Sri Lanka participated in the event; Acting Secretary of Defense for the Ministry of Defense R.P.R. Rajapaksha and Director Southwest Asia Division, MOFA Takashi Ariyoshi headed Sri Lanka and Japan delegations.

Both parties held cordial discussions on bilateral maritime relationships, giving prominence to emerging oceanic issues and mechanisms that can be adopt to ensure maritime safety and security in the region.

This is the second Sri Lanka-Japan Dialogue, held to facilitate mutual understanding between the two countries.
