SLC Imposes Six Month Ban And Fine On Lasith Malinga After Disciplinary Inquiry

Sri lanka Cricket imposed a six month suspended ban and a fine on fast bowler Lasith Malinga for breaching his contract with the SLC.

The Executive Committee of the SLC made the decision on Tuesday evening after the fast bowler pleaded guilty at a disciplinary inquiry.

Malinga was investigated for making statements to media without approval from the cricket administration.

The Sri Lankan cricket authorities were of the view that Malinga, in one of his statements, criticized a remark by Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera.

SLC sources said the fast bowler would be included in the Sri Lankan squad for the tournament against Zimbabwe

Among other issues discussed at the meeting was the appointment of an interim Head Coach, and accordingly Nic Pothas was announced in the position left vacant by Graham Ford.
