Crishanthe De Silva To Be New CDS: Mahesh Senanayake Likely New Army Commander

Army Commander Crishanthe De Silva has been promoted to General of the Sri Lanka Army.

Reports say that he is likely to be appointed the new Chief of Defense Staff.

Mahesh Senanayake is likely to be promoted to be the new Army Commander, government sources added. 

Mahesh Senanayake is currently the Chief of Defense Staff.

Major General Mahesh Senanayake was enlisted to the Sri Lanka Army on 16 October 1981 and has held numerous appointments during his illustrious career.

Senanayake is a graduate of the prestigious United States Army Command and General Staff College, and holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Civil Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru University of India.

Prior to his appointment as Chief of Defense Staff, he served Commander of the Security Forces in Jaffna.
