Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne today asserted that the government was contemplating tough action on doctors striking work during a Dengue outbreak.
Addressing a press conference in Colombo, the Health Minister hit out at the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) for launching a trade union action at a crucial time.
He said many patients across the country faced various difficulties today as a result of the trade union action by doctors.
The Minister said the GMOA launched the action knowing there was a dengue outbreak in the country.
He also lashed out at the GMOA for attempting achieve petty political motives at a time of crisis.
However, the Health Minister did not disclose the nature of stern action they were contemplating against doctors.
