The Police Special Task Force (STF) was called in to control protestors who forced their way into the Health Ministry premises, a short while ago.

Local university students, led by the Inter University Students’ Federation (IUSF) are protesting the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM).

The local university students want SAITM closed and have rejected the proposals put forward by the government to manage the situation.

Meanwhile, heavy traffic has been reported from Town Hall with university students protesting at the nearby Health Ministry and outside the University Grants Commission (UGC).
